Air Canada: A Redemption Story (Kinda)

So I was travelling from Dublin to Calgary with a stopover in Toronto and continuing on with Air Canada in Business Class. At the time I made the booking, my original flight was due to depart Toronto at 19:40 on an old B767-300ER with their OLD cabin interior which I had already experienced and hated.

Lame.

But there was hope! Upon closer inspection of the itinerary, I saw that Air Canada had actually added another flight to Calgary departing only 45 minutes later but on their new Dreamliner! The Dreamliners are all fitted with the new "Signature" cabin interior which I had yet to experience so this was really exciting! Cha-Ching!

So my new mission was clear. Arrive in Toronto and do whatever I could possible to get moved to the later flight.

When I arrived at T1, I immediately went to the Business Class check-in to ask about moving my flight. I was told by the check-in agent that as this was an Aer Lingus ticket, only they could change it. I wasn't entirely sold on that explanation however I accepted it and decided to head through security as I knew there was another Air Canada Customer Service Desk beyond security. I arrived at the desk I spoke to this lovely Air Canada employee who was sympathetic to my situation and advised me to come back in 30 minutes as check-in was still open. I went to buy a Canadian SIM card because my Irish mobile provider was #trash and charged €1M per megabyte and I had just spent all my money on this flight. I return to the desk and wait patiently as there was a bit of queue. Luckily when it was my turn I was served by the same lovely lady that helped me the first time (I forget her name & wish I had written it down. Rookie Mistake.)

With a couple of clicks of the keys, she printed a boarding pass for seat 1D on the Dreamliner flight I had begged and pleaded for! Amazing! The Airline Gods had smiled upon me.

This is my review of Air Canada's Signature Class onboard their new B787-9 Dreamliner! Check it out and see if this was in fact my best flight of 2019!
